Angaben zur Gattung

• Typusart: Olceclostera castra Jones, 1908 [Originalbezeichnung]
• Etymologie: The generic name is a tribute to Emiliano Zapata (8 August 1879-10 April 1919). Zapata was a mestizo Mexican of Spanish and Nahua heritage, was a peasant who led the Mexican Revolution (1910–1920) from the south of Mexico, commanding the Liberation Army of the South against the landowners who monopolised land and water resources to produce sugar cane with the support of the Mexican dictator Porfirio Díaz. Zapata formulated the ‘Plan of Ayala’ an agrarian reform plan that called for all lands stolen under dictatorship to be immediately returned. It also stated that large plantations owned by a single person or family should have one-third of their land nationalised, which would then be required to be given to poor farmers. Zapata was assassinated in 1919, and the agrarian reform would be fully carried out 20 years after his death (Brunk 1998).
