• Etymologie: This species is named in honor of Dr. Santiago Zaragoza Caballero. Professor Zaragoza is one of the greatest Mexican entomologists who dedicated his life to the study of Elateroidea "cantharoid" beetles in his prolific career at the Instituto de Biología, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). Professor Zaragoza was responsible for inspiring and mentoring generations of students in Mexico and is a role model and an example of dedication in the world of coleopterology in Latin America.
